Services in Molecular Biology

The mission of the Molecular Biology Department is to provide products, services and support for basic and clinical research challenges related to macromolecules (DNA, RNA, proteins) of biomedical interest. The techniques include gene cloning, vector construction, cellular transfection, gene expression and maintenance of recombinant cell lines. Our molecular biologists work with clients to achieve their technical goals and to optimise the performance of their target molecular and cellular systems. If desired, the services can be performed according to cGMP.

ORPEGEN Pharma scientists can routinely help clients with specific molecular biology requirements including:

  • DNA and RNA isolation
  • Plasmid preparation
  • Preparation of genomic and cDNA libraries
  • PCR and RT-PCR
  • Southern and Northern blot analysis
  • Subcloning
  • Development of expression constructs and expression cells
  • Bacterial transformation and expression of fusion proteins
  • Expression of proteins in insect cells (baculovirus)
  • Transient and stable transfection of mammalian cells
  • Assays for expression and quantitation of cloned proteins
  • Determination of gene copy number in recombinant cell lines
  • Investigation of the stability of production cell lines by pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFGE)
  • Detection of mutations by temperature gradient gel electrophoresis (TGGE)
  • Quantitation of residual, host cell derived DNA in biopharmaceuticals (contaminant DNA assay, ThresholdŽ system)
